Shipping Policy  (July 11, 2014)

We are legally registered to ship wine domestically and internationally with Federal Express and UPS.  We currently have an Internet Wine Retail ABC license from the state of Virginia.  In the future we may obtain ABC retail licenses from other states.  Additionally, we are working to expand our business to include United States Import & Wholesale licenses .  Customers in states outside of Virginia, please contact us to verify that we can ship to YOUR state.  We ship wine to 43 of the 50 states, due to individual state laws we CAN NOT ship wine to non-licensee's in the following states:  AL, AR, MA, NH, MS, SD, and UT.

The shipping estimates for the type of service and length of time in transit are just estimates, they are not guarantees and may not reflect the length of time necessary for an order to arrive at a customer's delivery address.  Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC will attempt to ship all orders on or near the customer requested ship date, however there is no guarantee or contract to ship orders on a specific date.  Same day shipping or orders for customers is generally not available, therefore customers should plan in advance when they require an order to arrive at their specified delivery address.  Once an order has been packaged and prepared for shipment, the customer is liable for outbound shipping, return shipping, and any shipping fees charged by the approved shipping company (FedEx, UPS, or other).  The customer will be given a minimum of 12 hours of advance written notice for their order shipment, they can specify an order hold during that time period.  Any order cancelled or refused after the order has been packaged for shipment will incur all charges from the shipping company as well as the maximum Restocking Fee (5 to 15 %) and Financial Transaction Fee (3 to 5 %).


Customer Provided Shipping


Any order that specifies “Customer Provided Shipping” will be processed through the standard Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC e-commerce system.  We do not provide nor is it legal for Virginia residents to use "Customer Provided Shipping."  The only exception is for Virginia residents that are classified as wine storage customers and have signed a wine storage contract with Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC.  Once the order is verified, the wine in the order is considered the property of the customer.  The order pick-up or the coordination for the transportation of the order to the customer is the sole responsibility of the customer.  Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC will provide the location (either the Falls Church, VA Warehouse or Falls Church, VA Office) and have the order prepared for the customer pick up or shipment.  ALL customer order pick-ups and customer coordinated shipping must be schedule by appointment with a specific staff member from Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC.  All transportation activities and coordination are the exclusive responsibility of the customer to include:  contacting the shipping company, US Export requirements and costs, destination Import requirements and costs, freight forwarding requirements and costs, shipping labels and paperwork, shipment tracking and damage claims, and any port of embarkation \ debarkation in country costs for the shipment.  Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC reserves the right to charge appropriate “Handling” fees for all orders specified as “Customer Provided Shipping” that includes the shipping container, shipping box, or shipping pillarization.  Wilkinson Wine Cellar, LLC also reserves the right to charge wine storage fees for any order specified as “Customer Provided Shipping” that remains in our physical possession for more than 30 days that is not due to weather restrictions.


Minimum Age and Signature Requirements


Wine may be sold and delivered only to a person who is at least 21 years old.  By virtue of your order with Wilkinson Wine Cellar you represent to us that you are at least 21 years old and the person to whom any wine will be delivered is also 21 years old.  At the time of delivery, any shipment containing an alcohol beverage product will require the signature of an adult possessing valid picture identification issued by a government agency proving he or she is at least 21 years old.  AN ADULT SIGNATURE IS REQUIRED BY LAW FOR ALL DELIVERIES! 
If no one is available to receive the package, a subsequent attempt to deliver will be made.  We encourage you to use a commercial business address such as your office to assure the fastest delivery time.  If subsequent attempts are unsuccessful, your order will be returned to our commercial storage center from where it originally shipped.  An additional fee will apply to reship undeliverable packages.  Wilkinson Wine Cellar recognizes and complies with all federal, state, and local laws regarding sale of alcohol to minors.

Weather Holds - Some Shipments May Be Delayed


When weather conditions (Temperatures not in range of 50 to 78 degrees F) could adversely affect wine in transit, Wilkinson Wine Cellar may place a temporary Weather Hold on orders shipping to or through affected states.  We apologize for the inconvenience such delays may cause, and will resume shipping affected orders as soon as conditions permit.  If you choose to override a Weather Hold placed on your order, we recommend upgrading your shipping to Express so your wine spends as little time as possible in transit.  When orders are released from Weather Hold at the customer's request, Wilkinson Wine Cellar will not accept responsibility for damage that items may suffer due to extreme temperatures in transit, and will not replace these items at our expense.  In the event that a Weather Hold is placed on an order, customers have the option to cancel their order and shop again at a later date.


You can trust that your order will be quickly processed and safely delivered.  The shipping dates given during checkout are estimates only and should be used just for transit times to your shipping address.  There are many variables which impact the preparation of your order and the day it will ship from our warehouse; we aren't able to guarantee an absolute delivery date.  If you require your order to be delivered by a specific day, please call to verify that this is possible.  When you place an order we will estimate delivery dates based upon the availability of your item(s), shipping method selected and your shipment’s destination. Our shipping charges are determined by the total shipping weight of your order, as determined by our officially licensed shipping carriers, excluding applicable sales tax. Some products cannot be shipped to international destinations so please submit a message to us from the Contact Us page if you would like to discuss international ordering options.
